PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide having a new molecular structure obtained by using rel-[1S,5R,6R]-3-oxabicyclo[3,2,1]octane-2,4-dione-6- spiro-3'-(tetrahydrofuran-2',5'-dione) as one monomer, and further to provide a method for producing the polyimide. SOLUTION: This polyimide is characterized in that the polyimide is constituted of a specific repeating unit. The method for producing the polyimide is characterized in that the polyimide is obtained by reacting a specified dicarboxylic acid compound.
