PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a substituent-having aromatic carboxylate which is useful as a raw material for various industrial products such as medicines or functional materials. SOLUTION: This method for producing the substituent-having aromatic carboxylate comprises a process for reacting a lower alkoxy-substituted aromatic carboxylate represented by the following equation (I) (R1 is a branched alkyl; R2 is a lower alkyl) with a Grignard reagent (R3MgX) (R3 is an alkyl, an aryl or an alicyclic group; X is a halogen) to obtain the aromatic carboxylate (II) having the substituent originated from the Grignard reagent.
