PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a main frame of an operating machine, which solves a problem of a conventional main frame (on a rear side of a pivot) of the operating machine, i.e., a problem of integral molding of the large main frame, resulting in difficulty in storage and transportation due to its large size, and difficulty in installing a number of component parts such as an axle, a hydraulic system, a driver's cab, etc., in the mainframe. SOLUTION: The method is provided for producing the main frame 12 of the operating machine, including a front frame sub-assembly 14, and a rear frame sub-assembly 16, and comprised of the following steps. In the first step, the rear frame sub-assembly 16 is selected out of a first rear frame sub-assembly 16 having a first design structure and a second rear frame sub-assembly having a second design structure. In the following step, the selected rear frame sub-assembly 16 is connected to the front frame sub-assembly 14, to thereby form the main frame 12.
