PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous dispersion having extremely excellent storage stability, giving a transparent and hard coating film having highly balanced properties such as adhesion, alkali resistance, organic chemical resistance, moisture resistance, weather resistance, (hot) water resistance and stain recovery and useful as a coating material. SOLUTION: The objective aqueous dispersion is produced by mixing and emulsifying (A) 1-99 pts.wt. of at least one kind of organosilane expressed by (R1)n-(Si)-(OR2)4-n, its hydrolyzate and its condensate, (B) 99-1 pt.wt. of a radical-polymerizable monomer (A+B=100 pts.wt.), (C) 0.1-5 pts.wt. of an emulsifier, (D) 50-2,000 pts.wt. of water and (E) 0.01-5 pts.wt. of a hydrolyzing catalyst for the component A, hydrolyzing the component A, finely dividing the emulsion to an average particle diameter of <=0.5μm, adding (F) 0.01-5 pts.wt. of a radical polymerization initiator to the product and carrying out the radical polymerization.
