PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color matching method using a computer, by which a compounding ratio is easily and accurately calculated by subjecting a coating liquid to color measurement, obtained by a suitable combination of colorants or a suitable combination of colorants and brilliant materials for obtaining an aimed color or an aimed color and brilliant feeling, as is adjusted without preparing a plate sample thereof, and a manufacturing method of a coating using the method. SOLUTION: Data obtained by measuring in advance liquid colors of coating liquids, with their volume compounding ratios of colorants and brilliant materials varied, in a liquid state as they are by color measurement means of a coating liquid are stored in a memory of a computer, whereas at least two coating liquids, with their compounding ratios adjusted so as to obtain an aimed color in color matching for a metallic pearl-like coating, are subjected to color measurement by color measurement means of a coating liquid to give respective liquid color data. Using these measurements and the data stored in the memory, a color to be reproduced is calculated in advance considering changes in color values brought about by differences in compounding ratios of colorants and brilliant materials thereby to achieve by calculation a suitable compounding ratio of colorants and brilliant materials.
