PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which uses columnar pixels, having a large bipolar moment and has a high response speed. SOLUTION: A portion or the whole on the surface of a base material, having volume smaller than 1 cm3, is provided with organic thin films bonded and fixed across -A-O- (where A is Si, Ge, Sn, Ti or Zr) bonds or -A-N- (where A is Si, Ge, Sn, Ti or Zr) bonds. The surface region of the base material is divided to two regions by the kinds of the organic thin films or the presence or the absence of the organic thin films. The two regions respectively occupy >=40% to <=60% of the surface area of the base material. The two regions include plural pieces of the electrified materials, which are different in the electrified charged or are of reverse polarities for the charges. The plural electrified materials are immersed into liquid between one set of the substrates respectively provided with the electrodes and are made rotatable by impressing a voltage to the electrodes.
