PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thickening, viscosity-adjusting agent which has an excellent thickening property and excellent temporal viscosity stability. SOLUTION: This thickening, viscosity-adjusting agent which is represented by formula (1) [R1, R2 and R4 are hydrocarbon groups, respectively, which may be different from or identical to each other; R3 is a hydrocarbon group or a urethane bond-having hydrocarbon group; R5 is a linear, branched, and secondary hydrocarbon group, or a substituent-having hydrocarbon group; (m) is the number of >=2; (h) is the number of >=1; (k) and (n) are each the number of 0 to 500], or the like.
