PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find out a new substance based on a specific ketol fatty acid found to have plant regulating effects and obtain a plant growth regulator comprising the new substance as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: The amide derivative of anα-ketol unsaturated fatty acid is represented by formula (1) [wherein, R1 denotes a 1-7C alkyl group, or the like; R2 denotes hydrogen atom or a side chain of anα-amino acid; R3 denotes anα-ketol alkylene group; R4 denotes a specific bivalent linear hydrocarbon group; and R6 denotes hydrogen atom or an alkali metal atom]. The plant growth regulator comprises the amide derivative as an active ingredient.
