PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar heating unit for a snow melting device shortening the snow melting time, saving energy by saving electricity, and simplifying the installation work. SOLUTION: The planar heating unit is provided with a surface plate 12 arranged at the upper section of a case 11 fitted with a heating element 10 feeding a snow melting heat quantity and heated by the snow melting heat quantity fed by the heating element 10 and a connection section plate protecting a connection section connecting the heating element 10 to a power supply feeding electric power to the heating element 10. When the heating element 10 of the case 11 is excited at a snowfall, the snow melting heat quantity is fed to the surface plate 12 at the upper section, and a snow melting effect can be exerted. Only the connection section plate is required to be removed at execution, and the installation work is very simple.
