PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display cell, capable of reducing mobile ion quantity in the liquid crystal display cell and thereby being low power consumption, and being superior in display quality and in long-term reliability. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display cell, having a pair of substrates with attached transparent electrodes, which consists of a transparent electrode film, a transparent electrode protective film and an alignment layer, successively laminated on at least a surface of one substrate and of which the respective transparent electrodes are placed opposite to each other, keeping a specified interval, and having a liquid crystal filled in the empty gap between the pair of the substrates with the attached transparent electrodes and sealed and having the gap on the peripheral part of the transparent electrodes sealed up with a sealant, the liquid crystal display cell is characterized by having ion adsorbing fine particles contained in at least one out of the transparent electrode protective film, the alignment layer and the sealant, where the ion adsorbing fine particles are (i) ion-adsorbing inorganic fine particles subjected to surface treatment with an organic silicon compound expressed by the formula Ra-Si(OR')4-a) (in the formula, R is -CnH2n+1, R' is -CnH2n+1 or -C2H4OCnH2n+1, a is an integer from 0 to 3, and n is an integer of 1 to 4) or with a hydrolyzed organic silicon compound or (ii) ion-adsorbing organic fine particles. |
