PURPOSE: A program search system and method is provided to store and update program data on a digital broadcasting, an internet broadcasting or a VOD service at a local storage, and to enable a user to search for a desired program by a keyword. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of receiving program data related to a digital TV broadcasting, an internet broadcasting and a VOD service with a DTV receiver and a network access module(S10), decoding the program data by using a protocol link, for example, an SI(Service Information) or an OC(Object Carrousel), and extracting keywords from the decoded program data(S20), storing the decoded program data and the extracted keywords at a database(S30), if a user inputs a keyword related to a desired program by an external input device, comparing the input keyword with stored keywords, retrieving a plurality of program data related to the input keyword, and displaying the search result on a display(S40), enabling a user to select one specific program data among the displayed search result, synthesizing the selected program data with AV(Audio Video) signals tuned via the DTV receiver and the network access module, and displaying the synthesized moving picture on a display(S50, S60).
