SEWING MACHINE CAPABLE OF FORMING RUNNING STITCH OF VERY REGULAR SEAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine capable of forming a running stitches of a very regular seam. SOLUTION: The sewing machine forming the running stitch seams has an eye 2 opening in the vicinity of a tip and a sewing needle 1 whose shaft 1a is nearly vertical to a face 3 supporting an item to be sewn. The sewing needle 1 is driven by a reciprocal action along its own shaft 1a so that it may periodically pass through the supporting face 3. A thread take-up wheel 5 provided below the supporting face 3 is made up of a fixed portion 6 having a magazine 8 for thread taken up and a rotating portion 7 rotationally driven around a shaft 5a. The rotating portion 7 of the wheel supports a lower looper 11 engaging with a thread loop below the supporting face 3 so as to put thread 12 into the magazine 8 formed in the wheel's fixed portion 6. In addition, pneumatic tension addition means 14, 15 and 16 are also provided for the portion of thread below the supporting face 3.
