PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an animal excrement-treating material which has a good property for absorbing and holding urine excreted from animals, can be brought into contact with the excrement to form the massive product, can be burnt, and can effectively utilize wood meal. SOLUTION: This animal excrement-treating material is characterized by comprising dry granules which each has a granular portion comprising wood meal, used tea leaves in a smaller amount than the amount of the wood meal, and a highly water-soluble resin in a smaller amount than the amount of the wood meal, and a coating material portion coated on the surface of the granular portion and comprising paper powder or wood meal and a highly water-absorbing resin, and further has a particle diameter of >=1 mm. The granular portion may further contain paper-making pulp, pulp sludge, paper-making sludge, polyvinyl alcohol, wheat flour, corn starch, carboxymethylcellulose, gelatin, a vinyl ester, starch, carboxymethylcellulose, bentonite or zeolite or a mixture of these two or more materials in a smaller amount than the amount of the wood meal, and a highly water-absorbing resin in a smaller amount than the amount of the wood meal, and may further contain a sterilizing substance in a smaller amount than the amount of the wood meal.
