A pair of mould plates have a feed channel in one mould plate extending along one side of the cavity and a filling slot extending from the channel to the cavity. A reciprocable gate in the filling slots controls the flow of expandable thermoplastic beads from the channel to the cavity to obtain a uniform charge of material. The slot pref. extends into the cavity below the top face of the associated mould plate. The gates are spring-loaded to an open position and closed by a pneumatically operated back plate. |
