PURPOSE:To reduce the work process and to improve the tape travel performance, by working the cylinder for a video tape recorder by means of a milling machine equipped with the cutting chips for the lead and the cylindrical section. CONSTITUTION:While rotating the cylinder G of a video tape recorder around the axis G1, the end mill E is rotated around the axis E1 to perform the work. The mill E is equipped with a lead section cutting chip 2 for working the end face Gb1 of the lead section Gb of the cylinder G and a cylindrical section cutting chip 3 for cutting the curl to be produced on the cylindrical section Ga and the end face Gb1, where the top P of the chip 3 is arranged in the projection face of the chip 2. Consequently the cylinder is worked in single process while the curl produced at the working of the spiral lead section and its relief groove can be removed simultaneously resulting in the improvement of the tape travel performance. |
