PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel pipe production equipment commonly applicable to dissimilar pipes, which equipment can smoothly and consistently produce an electrically seamed pipe without separation of abutting edges of a slotted pipe before welding. SOLUTION: The steel pipe production equipment commonly usable for dissimilar pipes includes a group of forming rolls that forms preheated steel strip into a slotted pipe in a size-free manner by displacing each roll. The equipment further includes an edge preheating and a edge heating apparatus that independently performs induction heating of the abutting edges of the slotted pipe by freely shifting electric current from low to high frequency. The equipment even further includes a squeezing roll that upsets the heated edges of the slotted pipe. Each production apparatus mentioned above is configured in the written order. The edge preheating apparatus, the edge heating apparatus and the squeezing roll are carried by independent carts, while the edge preheating apparatus is retractably disposed in the transporting line of the slotted pipe, and the edge heating apparatus and the squeezing roll are made free to travel to the position in the transporting line evacuated by the edge preheating apparatus.
