PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable easy choice of a material for a backing member capable of obtaining suitable shape retention property, and a plan for facilitation and cost down of backing work. SOLUTION: When a vamp cover 2 of a shoe 1 comprises an outside vamp member 3 made of a comparatively thin and soft material, and a comparatively thick reinforcement member 4 that reinforces a fringe section of the outside vamp member 3, the shape retaining property is enhanced by utilizing nonwoven fabric impregnated with an impregnation agent as the backing member 5 on the back of an outside vamp member 3 section at least surrounded by the reinforcement members 4. The degree of flexibility, or the like, can be modified by adjustment of agent impregnation quantity into nonwoven fabric.
