PURPOSE: A polymer fluorescent substance, its preparation method, a polymer light-emitting device(LED) containing the fluorescent substance, and a sheet-type light source, a segment display device, a dot matrix display device and a LCD containing the LED are provided, wherein LED exhibits a high efficiency even at a low voltage. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the step of polymerizing at least one monomer represented by X1-Ar1-X2 in a solvent containing at least one aromatic hydrocarbon and/or ether in the presence of 1.8 mol or more of a zero-valent nickel complex per 1 mol of the monomer, wherein Ar1 is a divalent group selected from the group consisting of an arylene group, a divalent heterocyclic group and a divalent or trivalent heteroatom-bonded arylene or a divalent heterocyclic compound group, and can have one or more substituents; and X1 and X2 are the same or different each other and are a leaving group. Preferably the aromatic hydrocarbon is toluene and the ether is tetrahydrofuran. |
