Process for forming a granular material reinforced with thread-like components of indefinite length and plant for making use of the process

The plant for obtaining this material comprises a conveyor (1) for granular material (2) spilt into a hopper (4) in which a turbulent flow of water is created at the end of a feed conduit (5). A thread-like component (7) is introduced into the flow leaving the hopper (4) by feed rollers (9) and an air gun (10). The whole is poured on to a pierced support (6) to allow the water to flow away while the granular material incorporating the thread-like component is retained. This material, the pressure resistance of which is greatly increased, can be employed in building and especially for civil engineering works. <IMAGE>
