PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand-held hammer that eliminates the problem caused by a protective cover provided over its head. SOLUTION: The cover 4 has two structures-one with a bulletlike body 4a and the other with a nose 4b to cover a nose member 31. The point part 4b has a vertically long sectional shape and also a minimally-broadened width to cover the nose member 31. The nose 4b being a vertically long sectional shape, the cover 4 does not interfere with a grooved workpiece when it is driven. In addition, as the lower guide 24 is thick, it can be increased in strength.
