PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure pulse wave sensor for attaining installation stability of the sensor, preventing congestion of a vein, and inexpensively measuring a pressure pulse wave while securing sufficient sensor sensitivity. SOLUTION: This pressure pulse wave sensor 1A has an artery pressing part 2 having a body surface pressing surface 2a having the area suitable for obtaining an internal pressure waveform of an artery by pressing the artery, a flexible fixing plate 3 attached with the artery pressing part 2, a pressure detecting element 4 having a pressure sensitive part having the area larger than the body surface pressing surface 2a of the artery pressing part 2, and detecting deflection of the fixing plate 3 by being installed on the fixing plate 3, a fixing plate support part 5 for supporting the fixing plate 3, and a pressing means 6 attached with the fixing plate support part 5, and generating pressure for pressing the artery from a body surface by the artery pressing part 2. A nondeflective part (a peripheral part) in one surface of the fixing plate 3 is fitted with a flexible angle stabilizing support part 15 having an end surface 15a positioned on the same plane as the body surface pressing surface 2a of the artery pressing part 2 installed on this one surface.
