PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and uniformly mix and stir a material to be treated by a method wherein when an apparatus for mixing and stirring is stopped, a container containing the material is housed in a container holder; and when the container holder is rotated by starting the operation of the apparatus, relative rotation of the container to the container holder is stopped, operation mistake in setting the container is completely prevented, and wear and damage of the container and the container holder and noise are prevented from being generated. SOLUTION: This apparatus is characterized a construction such that a fixing ring 3 and sliding ring 4 movably fitting to a container holder 2 are arranged in the container holder 2, one end 5a of a winding spring 5 is connected to a fixing ring 3, and the other end 5b is connected to the sliding ring 4; and when the container holder 2 is rotated in a rotational direction, an inner diameter size of the winding spring 5 is automatically decreased, and an outer diameter part 6c of the container 6 is fastened by a large frictional force.
