PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing materials for a seamless steel pipe with simple operation and lower cost using an existing apparatus. SOLUTION: A molten steel is poured into a mold and solidified in a continuous caster to produce a material for a seamless steel pipe. The degree of superheating in the molten steel being poured into the mold is adjusted to 20-50 degrees centigrade, while impression is applied on the surface of the longer side of the steel ingot drawn from the mold with draft being equivalent to 5-15% of the depth of the shorter side.
