The control device includes a measuring device which is sensitive to two reference pressures, and an actuator for operating a gas valve (16) in response. A means such as a flow passage (15) is used to generate a control flow for influencing one or both of the reference pressures. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a method of operating a gas-consuming device using the control device; and (b) a gas-consuming device provided with the control device.
