PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very high-density storage device wherein comparably large signal currents are given, and comparably converged beams can be projected on its storage medium without requiring any expensive converging optical element, and further, comparably good signal to noise ratios can be obtained. SOLUTION: The very high-density storage including energy channeling constituents 220 for radiating thermal, optical, or electrical energies and including a storage medium 40 having a rectifying junction region is given. The storage medium 40 includes unaltered and altered regions 130, 140 of nanometer scales which are present in the vicinity of the rectifying junction region. Each energy channeling constituent 220 is contacted directly with the storage medium 40 or is so positioned in the vicinity of the storage medium 40 as to keep nearly constant the distance between it and the storage medium 40. In this way, comparably converged beams can be projected on the storage medium 40 without requiring any expensive converging optical element, and further, comparably good signal to noise ratios can be obtained. |
