PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure diagnosing device obviating the need for newly installing a detector for a failure diagnosis for a motor, in a hybrid compressor provided with a driving style composed of two systems of an engine and the motor, and structured so as to permit the rotation of the motor by the power of the engine when a compression part is driven by the engine. SOLUTION: When the compression part 2 is driven by the traveling engine 8 and the motor 3 is rotated by power from the traveling engine 8, a generated voltage by the motor is detected, and the failure of the motor is diagnosed by using the detected generated voltage. As a means for the failure diagnosis, the generated voltage estimated from the rotation speed of the motor 3 is compared with the actual generated voltage of the motor 3, and it is diagnosed as a failure when its difference is out of a predetermined range, or in the case of a three-phase motor, it is diagnosed as a failure when the differences among effective values of phase voltages outputted from the respective phases are out of a predetermined range.
