The static exhauster has a base (3) which includes two sets of interleaved bendable plates (11,111) able to take up a first conical configuration giving a smaller diameter (D1) and when further bent a second cylindrical configuration with a larger diameter (D2). The base supports a top plate (2) by a lattice structure (5) and may be secured by a bolted (41,42) and strut (40). An independent claim is made for a method of manufacturing the exhauster.
