PURPOSE: A self diagnosing apparatus for a WLL(Wireless Local Loop) terminal and a method therefor are provided to diagnose important parts of the WLL terminal in an MSM(Mobile Station Modem) and display a failure and a failure part on an LCD. CONSTITUTION: The first to ninth failure sensing units(121-129) are composed to correspond to an IF(Intermediate Frequency) transmitter, a transmitting mixer(105), a driver amplifier(107), a power amplifier(108), an LNA(Low Noise Amplifier)(112), a receiving mixer(114), a PLL(Phase Locked Loop) unit(104), an IF amplifier(115), and an IF receiver(117), and sense whether a corresponding component fails. A multiplexer(130) selects one among sensing signals outputted from the first to ninth failure sensing units(121-129) according to an inputted sensing signal selection signal and outputs the selected one sensing signal. An MSM(140) provides the sensing signal selection signal to the multiplexer(130), analyzes the sensing signal outputted from the multiplexer(130), discriminates the failure and the failure portion, and displays the discriminated result on an LCD(150).
