摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a satisfactory contrast by preventing the lifting of luminance at the time of performing black display and at the time of performing low luminance in an image picture display device in which a plural of display elements are arranged in a matrix shape. SOLUTION: An image display panel 1 is constituted of a plural of image display elements which are arranged in a matrix shape. Driving pulses having pulse widths corresponding to a luminance signal are supplied to modulation wirings from a modulation wiring driver 7. Although selection potentials are successively outputted to scanning wirings to be selected, the pulse width of each potential is controlled so as to correspond to the maximum value in one scanning period of the output of a luminance data converter 4 which is stored in a scanning wiring line driving time deciding part 9 and to rise just before the rising of the driving pulse with respect to the modulation wirings and to fall just after the rising of the maximum value of the driving pulse width with respect to the modulation wirings.
