PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CAD data retrieval method and a device thereof capable of easily deal with addition and change of retrieval items. SOLUTION: A retrieval data preparation part 6 reads CAD data in CAD drawing from DB 1 for CAD data, reads data in corresponding related document from DB 2 for document data, prepares a list of words and phrases used in the related document, checks retrieval items set in retrieval item master data 3, and extracts the retrieval items coinciding with them. Next, the retrieval data preparation part 6 checks the extracted retrieval items with drawing commands included in the CAD data in the CAD drawing, reads attribute names indicating type and dimension name of a figure prepared by the drawing commands and the attribute values from the drawing commands related to the extracted retrieval items, and prepares a database 7 for retrieval automatically by the extracted retrieval items, the attribute names corresponding to the retrieval items, and the attribute values.
