PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate a photographic film from a film joined body mounted on a film-mounting part and feed the one separated photographic film to a carrying path for reading. SOLUTION: The tip end of the film joined body 90 is conveyed along a film feeding path 94 to the downstream side through pairs of feed rollers 88, 146, pairs of nip rollers 152, 154 and pairs of carrying rollers 100, 102, and when the tip end of the film joined body 90 is detected with a film sensor 132 before a conveyance confluent part 122, rotation of the pair of second nip rollers 154 is stopped. Thereafter, the position of the joint of the film joined body 90 is checked by a signal from a splice sensor 144 and the film joined body 90 is cut along the joint with a film cutter 148. Thus, the photographic film separated from the film joined body 90 is conveyed to a reading position R and an image is read by the photographic film.
