PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and automatically recover a client environment after replacement of a hard disk on a client side in a client/server system. SOLUTION: An environment setting device is provided with a means recognizing replacement of the hard disk on the client side 200 and a means installing hard disk backup contents, which are previously stored inside a server 100 in compliance with the replacement of the hard disk for the client replacing the hard disk, to the client 200. A plurality of kinds of backup contents are prepared in the server 100, and one kind of the backup contents is selected to be installed to the client 200. One kind of the backup contents is that in the environment of the client 200 just before the replacement of the hard disk.
