PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and correctly quantifying and evaluating the excystation capability of an oocyst as a method for evaluating the growth activity of a protozoan oocyst without relying on microscope observation. SOLUTION: A test sample including oocysts is brought into contact with cultured cells and thereafter cysts are stripped off from them, and the amount of infectious bodies of protozoans stuck to the surfaces of the cultured cells is detected and quantified by an immunological technique, so that the amount of oocysts keeping the excystation capability in the test sample, or having growth activity can be quantitatively evaluated.
