PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extract which can inhibit the growth of the malignant tumors by the oral ingestion or injection or the like and which can uptake routinely by the possibility of the ingestion without side effects. SOLUTION: The stem, foliage or roots of Aspalathus rhynearis are extracted with hot water. To the residues after the extraction are added an alkali aqueous solution of sodium carbonate, sodium hydrogencarbonate, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide or ammonium hydroxide with stirring or shaking. The resulting product is filtered to obtain the carcinostatic agent.
