PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus where the exposure control of a light emitting element is performed so that the image density of a longitudinal line and that of a lateral line may be equal, a patch to make the area of toner adhering to an image carrier constant is formed on the image carrier, and the density fluctuation of the patch is reduced. SOLUTION: The exposure control of the light emitting element is performed based on the density of the patch of the lateral line in a main scanning direction and that of the patch of the longitudinal line in a subscanning direction, the patch consisting of a plurality of fixed-diameter dots is formed on the image carrier, and the gradation of the patch is changed in accordance with toner electrification information and an interval to form the patch is changed in accordance with toner consumption information. |
