PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cracking head by which the distance along which a push rod or the like moves up and down can accurately be set and a desired pressing force is applied to a glass pane and further security of cracking operation of the glass pane can be assured, and also to provide a cracking apparatus of the glass pane equipped with the same. SOLUTION: The cracking head 1 is provided with a cracking means 4 for cracking a glass plate with a cutting line, a means 5 for moving the cracking means 4 up and down in the direction of Z. The means 5 for moving the cracking means 4 up and down has a movable element, a stator which faces in X direction orthogonal to Z direction, and an electric linear motor 8 which generates up and down force for moving the cracking means 4 up and down in Z direction.
