PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance image quality by appropriately reproducing the density of a final image in a thin density area. SOLUTION: This electrophotographic device has an image reproduction engine for making toner adhere to a virtual dot area in a pixel to form a dot image and reproduces an image by representing the density by halftone dots formed in the dot image in a plurality of pixels. An image processor in the electrophotographic device makes halftone dots belonging to a first group grow in accordance with an increase in the density in a first area in which the density of input image data is low, and generates image reproduction data for making halftone dots belonging to a second group different from the first group grow in a second area in which the density is higher than that of the first area. In the first area, a virtual dot area is further generated at the same time, being small enough not to form a dot image by toner in a halftone dot area other than the halftone dots belonging to the first group. The density change of halftone dots is suppressed by generating the small virtual dot area, halftone dot density changes while halftone dots are made to grow separately in an area where density is low, and the density of the final image can be prevented from being inappropriate due to edge effects.
