PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an antihalation layer for a photothermographic element. SOLUTION: The photothermographic element which comprises a support, at least one layer of a receiving photothermographic layer and at least one layer of the antihalation layer or a filter layer has features as follows: the antihalation layer or the filter layer contains a heat bleachable composition combined at least one kind of a halation prevention dye or a filter dye and at least one kind of a hexaryl biimidazole compound of the liquid particle or solid particle phase dispersed into the layer. The layer contains a polymer matrix which contains a hydrophilic polymer or a water dispersible polymer as a single or main binder material.
