PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately estimate the weight of a vehicle. SOLUTION: The system for estimating weight of vehicle, which is composed of an acceleration detecting means that detects the acceleration of the vehicle, a driving force estimating means that estimates the driving force of the vehicle, and a vehicle weight estimating means that estimates the weight of the vehicle on the basis of the detected acceleration and the estimated driving force, includes a slope run judging means that judges whether the vehicle runs on a sloping road or not on the basis of the relationship between a moment when instructions are transmitted in order to increase the torque generated by an engine and another moment when the velocity of the vehicle exceeds a determined value, and an estimation invalidating means that invalidates the estimation of weight of the vehicle estimated by the vehicle weight estimating means in the case such a judgement that the vehicle runs on the sloping road is made. Thereby, the estimation of the weight of vehicle using the driving force estimated with poor accuracy on the sloping road is not carried out. As a result, the accuracy of estimation of the weight of vehicle is improved.
