PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk player which can appropriately playback a disk which has a part where reproduction is difficult. SOLUTION: According to NV-Pack, a system microcomputer 8 sets the address on the disk d of the object data to be read, controls a servo circuit 4, etc., reads the target object data, and controls a signal processing circuit 5 to perform demodulation, error correction, etc., of data. When the demodulation error information is supplied from the signal processing circuit 5 at that time, the system microcomputer 8 acquires the jitter value signal supplied from an RF amplifier 2, and discriminates whether the jitter value is within a specified value. When it is judged that the jitter value exceeds the specified value, the reason why object data cannot be searched is ascribed to partial scratches produced on a disk d or defects produced in manufacturing, and the system microcomputer 8 sets another program to conduct a new search.
