PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and facilities for synthesizing DME where a large amount of DME can be produced at low cost using inexpensive water and a carbon material as raw materials. SOLUTION: Synthesis gas is produced by catalytic reaction of water and a carbon material in the presence of a large amount of micro arc plasma in an arc plasma reactor APR. Methanol is synthesized from the synthesis gas in a methanol synthesis reactor MR and then converted to DME in a methanol dehydration reactor DH. In another embodiment, the synthesis gas is converted to DME in DME synthesis reactor DMER.
