PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair dye composition which is stable without containing a reducing agent and imparts strong dyeing and gloss in a relatively short period for treatment. SOLUTION: The water-soluble hair dye composition contains an oxidation dye including (A) at least one selected from tetraaminopyrimidine, triaminohydroxypyrimidine and these water-soluble salts and (B) at least one coupling agent selected from 1,3-diaminobenzene, 2-amino-4- hydroxyethylaminoanisole, 2,4-diaminophenoxyethanol and these salts, and does not contain a reducing agent.
