PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leg for a stepladder and the like, in which the processing work of the edge of a tread bar can be reduced. SOLUTION: A leg 3 is formed with an extruded member having a U-shaped section forming an opening facing inside, and a tread bar 4 is formed by cutting off a hollow, extruded member on its edges right angle to the longitudinal direction. On each edge of the tread bar, a cap 10 is fitted, and the leg 3, the edge of the tread bar 4, and the cap 10 are coupled together by a coupling member 13. The cap 10 has a crown wall 12 projected from the edge of the tread bar 4, and the crown wall 12 has an external surface 12b abutted against the inner surface of a bottom wall 3c of the leg 3.
