POLISHING METHOD FOR MAGNETIC POLE PAD OF THIN FILM MAGNETIC HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thin film magnetic head excellent in reliability for recording and reproduction of a signal. SOLUTION: A magnetic pole pad 12 is provided on a head chip 1 formed by laminating thin films and a pair of magnetic poles 42 exposed on the surface of the magnetic pole pad 12 are brought into contact with a recording surface of a magnetic recording medium to perform writing and reading of the signal on the recording surface. The magnetic poles 42 covered by a pad material 12a are brought into contact with a disk surface of a floppy (trade mark) disk from which a liquid lubricant is removed and the pad material 12a is polished to expose the magnetic poles 42. The floppy disk is constituted, for example, by applying the mixture of abrasive grains, magnetic powder and an adhesive on a resin substrate.
