PURPOSE: To provide a filing instrument, provided with a function of storing matters to be stored under a good condition without contacting the same with outside and, further, capable of coping with the change of sizes of the matters to be stored. CONSTITUTION: The filing instrument 1 is provided with a standard cover constituting member 2, having a front cover 21, a back cover 22 and a rear cover 23, and a movable cover constituting member 3, movable relatively along the inner surface of the standard cover constituting member 2. The standard cover constituting member 2 is provided with an inserting and engaging unit 25 for permitting the movement of the cover extended into the lengthwise direction of the back cover forming unit in an area for forming the back cover 22 while a guide unit 26 for regulating the movement of the movable cover constituting member 3 is also provided. The movable cover constituting member 3 is provided integrally with a movable cover 31, a movable beck cover 32 and a movable rear cover 33, which are provided with a width in accordance with at least the standard cover constituting member 2, while an opening and engaging unit 35 for the movement of the cover, into which the inserting and engaging unit 25 for permitting the movement of the cover is inserted, is provided in an area for forming the movable back cover 32.
