PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a latch lock which can eliminate hitching of a part of clothes on a claw part of the tip of a latch piece when passing through a door way, and moreover, hold the closed state of a door body even in a disaster such as an earthquake or the like by preventing an unlocking of the latch lock even when outside force, which is strong in the opening direction, acts on the door body. SOLUTION: The lock body is constituted of a latch shaft 20, the latch piece 21, and a coil 23 or the like, and these are provided to the door body 2. A striker 4 for engaging and capturing the latch piece 21 is provided to a door frame 1, and an engagement guide part 35 for swing operation of the latch piece 21 is provided to the opening edge. The latch piece 21 has a claw part 24 to be engaged with a claw receiving part 34 and is capable of reciprocating swing in the direction perpendicular to the direction of closing force R in an engaging face of the both. The shaft center of the latch shaft 20 is arranged almost parallel to the direction of the closing force R. By this, the swing operation of the latch piece 21 in the unlocking direction is eliminated by the force in the opening direction acting on the door body 2.
