PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metal-ceramic composite material, which can obtain a composite material having the treated surface which is firmly adhered to a composite material of a substrate, without removing the barrier material and without receiving influence of ceramics. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a metal-ceramic composite material having the treated surface includes, making a preform without coating the barrier material on the surface, from ceramic powder or ceramic fiber of reinforcement, manufacturing a composite material by infiltrating aluminum or an aluminum alloy into the preform as matrix, until it seeps to the surface, and forming a metal film on the surface of the composite material.
