PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain an electromagnetic wave shielding material by a method with excellent processability from an inexpensive raw material, without using large-scale production equipment, which exhibits high performances in shielding of electromagnetic waves, and to provide a method for producing the electromagnetic wave shielding material. SOLUTION: This electromagnetic wave shielding material comprises a carbonized material of silk fibers obtained by heating a cloth material made of the silk fibers in a vacuum and carbonizing the cloth material. The electromagnetic wave shielding material is obtained by passing the silk fibers through a cloth material preparing step of preparing the cloth material composed of the silk fibers subjected to degumming treatment with an enzyme, a baking step of baking the resultant cloth material in an anoxic state with radiant heat in two stages using a vacuum baking furnace and a step of cooling the cloth material baked in the baking step. |
