PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system that can easily and properly adjust an optical level even when an installed location of an optical transmitter is not decided in advance. SOLUTION: In the optical transmission system, a drive section A5 simultaneously adjusts optical attenuations of 1st and 2nd variable optical attenuators A3, A4 by monitoring an optical reception level of an optical signal received by an optical reception section A2 of a 1st optical transmitter A and making the optical reception level proper so as to make an optical reception level of an optical signal received by an optical reception section B2 of a 2nd optical transmitter B proper.
