PURPOSE: An optical system is provided, in which auxiliary lens having a curvature larger than the curvature of the condensing lens is arranged at the incident surface of condensing lens, to thereby reduce angle of the light having a larger angle from among the light reflected at the parabolic reflector and improve optical efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An optical system comprises a light source for generating optical beam; a liquid crystal panel(42) for displaying an image by adjusting the amount of optical beam in accordance with an image signal; a condensing lens(44) for condensing the optical beam toward the liquid crystal panel; and an auxiliary lens(46) arranged to the condensing lens, and which converts the light which is incident at a high incidence angle from the light source, into a parallel light. The auxiliary lens has a curvature larger than the curvature of the condensing lens. |
